Boys 2nd at North-South Invitational

The Boys’ Cross-Country team competed in the first ever North-South Invitational at Nashua High School South on September 17. The boys’ team had runners in all three races—Freshmen, JV, and Varsity. In the Freshmen race, the Merrimack boys’ team had six freshmen compete. Justin Dye came in first for the Tomahawks with a time of 16:51 and placing 23rd overall. Other finishers include: Jake Zannoni (24th, 16:56), Schyler Vaillancourt (26th, 17:03), Troy Hartmann (28th, 17:30), Austin Bannister (38th, 19:19), and John Pitten (41st, 19:38).
On the JV side, the boys’ team had five participants in the race. Coming in first for the boys, with a time of 18:29 and placing seventh overall, was Ryan Sexton. Follow him were Brian Stankewiecz (16th, 19:01), Sam Gustafson (27th, 19:30), Bobby Desmond (44th, 21:40), and Alex Doyle (67th, 24:08).

For the Varsity Race, the boys’ team put up a valiant effort and came in second with a score of sixty-nine points. Coming in first for Merrimack, and overall for the race, was Jack Conlin with a time of 16:06. Following him a few spots down in sixth place was Chris Busby with a time of 16:42. Rounding out the top finishers for the boys’ team were: Mitch Ripka (15th, 17:26), Ben Francis (24th, 17:54), Josh Ware (30th, 18:02), and Connor Lane (40th, 18:36). 


For next weekend, Saturday, September 24, the Boys’ Team will be participating in the Manchester Invitational at Derryfield Park in Manchester.
