Merrimack Boys’ Come in Tenth at Manchester Invitational

The Merrimack Boys’ Cross-Country team competed in the Thirty-Seventh Annual Manchester Invitational on Saturday, September 25. Running the always difficult Derryfield course in the humid, arid conditions, the boys’ team had runners in the Freshmen, JV, and Elite Race. 
Battling the hills, and the mud and muck of Derryfield Park, the freshmen of Merrimack had eight runners with Justin Dye coming in first for the ‘Hawks with an overall place of 72nd  and a time of 13:25. Following him were James Jolly (92nd, 13:45), Jake Zannoni (113th, 14:04), Schyler Vaillancourt (145th, 14:30), Keo Simomsen (163rd, 14:50), Troy Hartmann (182nd, 15:18), John Pitten (196th, 15:45), and Austen Bannister (211th, 16:02).

In the JV race, Merrimack had five runners in the race. Making a personal record of forty seconds, and coming in first for Merrimack, was Connor Lane (30th, 18:34). Also finish for the ‘Hawks were Ryan Sexton (78th, 19:26), Brian Stankiewicz (101st, 19:54), Bobby Desmond (180th, 21:11), Alex Doyle (296th, 25:17), and Brandon Hargreaves (298th, 25:49).

The meet came to a climax in the Boys’ Elite race. Coming in first for Merrimack was Jack Conlin; his place being 18th with a time of 16:55. A few places behind Conlin was Christopher Busby with a time of 17:07 and a place of 29th. Rounding out the top finishers were Mitch Ripka (52nd, 18:01), Kyle Haggerty (55th, 18:15), Ben Francis (57th, 18:27), and Josh Ware (62nd, 18:36).

Next week the Boys’ team will be at Concord’s NHTI’s cross-country course on Tuesday, September 27 participating in a cluster-meet. Hope to see you all there!
